Reflection
This year’s exhibition was by far the biggest challenge and accomplishment I have ever been a part of. Transforming myself into a project manager was a life changing experience for me. I learned so much from the second I became a project manager to the end of exhibition. When we first started working on exhibition, I remember running into Dr. Patton in the hallway and he said, “Congrats on being this year’s project manager.” It was not until the night of exhibition that I realized how significant my role was. We had spent weeks working up until the night of exhibition and each and every one of us poured our hearts into the projects. I was lucky enough to be part of exhibition from the first early morning teacher meeting up until the last painting was taken down. As a project manager we not only had to understand the entire exhibition, we had to manage every single person on our team. It was difficult to manage 75 people when there were only two managers. I learned a lot about communication from this experience. It was absolutely necessary to be able to communicate with not only teachers, but students as well. During the course of exhibition prep, we made three different spreadsheets for our entire team that explained jobs and roles. We needed to keep exhibition organized in order to be successful. individually, I am most proud of my oral history video. I interviewed my father and my great aunt about heart disease. Both my grandfather and my great grandfather passed away from a heart attack. This video is extremely personal and I know that my family will appreciate it for generations to come. I learned so much from this project. One thing that I will take with me for the rest of my career is time management. There was so much that needed to be done in such a small amount of time and we managed to pull it off. It took a lot of work to make sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to be doing. Whether I was checking in each student one by one or observing from a far, we managed to finish. I have never been more proud of a project in my life. This years exhibition is the highlight of my high school career and it was a privilege to be a project manager.
